Who participates in NJFDC Working Groups?
Working Groups are collaborative teams of volunteer advocates, farmers, researchers, and community partners who come together to advance NJFDC’s policy and systems-change goals across New Jersey’s food system.

Beginner, Urban, Small-Scale, Emerging Producers
Advances local and statewide policy and systems change to expand land, capital, and market access for first-generation, small-scale, urban, and socially disadvantaged producers, in collaboration with the Legislative & Policy Working Group and NJFDC Advisory Board.

Education & Training
Increases awareness of state and local food policy and food system issues as a core strategy to advance equity and resilience in community-scale food systems across New Jersey.

Inclusive Local Markets
Drives innovation and optimization across federal nutrition assistance programs (SNAP, WIC, Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program) to improve access, implementation, retail participation, outreach, and the dissemination of best practices across local food systems.

Legislative and Policy
Tracks state bills aligned with NJFDC’s policy priorities, strategizes on policy change/advocacy activities, drafts annual legislative priorities, and activates food justice community as needed.
