NJFDC’s Mission & Values

Build, grow, and empower a broad, connected, grassroots network of food system stakeholders, to democratically transforms the state’s food and agriculture system to be resilient, regenerative, equitable, and anti-racist.

Who we are and what we do.

The New Jersey Food Democracy Collaborative (NJFDC) is statewide grassroots advocacy coalition, connected by the shared vision of a food and agriculture system that is accessible to all, and heals the planet and local communities. It was formed in June 2020 to cultivate outcome-driven, values-based collaboration between the many stakeholders of New Jersey’s complex food and agriculture system for the purpose of improving the food-related health, equity, sustainability, and resilience of our communities.

We do this by building a broad, inclusive network with deep connections and shared goals and leveraging that network to push for food policy and practice that advances our mission; by filling information and resource gaps; supporting the development of local food policy councils; and promoting the creation of regenerative, resilient community-based food systems across the state.

NJFDC advocates for and is advancing greater equity and economic and social inclusion in NJ’s food and farming system.
